Does Brexit make GDPR irrelevant?

Does Brexit mean that UK organisations won’t have to comply with GDPR? Edward Lucas, author of Cyber phobia, explains why it will still be important after the UK leaves the EU.

The GDPR is an excellent template for data protection, according to Edward Lucas from The Economist, and one that British people will respond to positively. As a result the UK government is highly likely to maintain a version of the GDPR after Brexit. But more important perhaps is the fact that any UK organization wanting to do business with consumers based anywhere within the European Union will be subject to the cyber security and data protection requirements that the GDPR imposes.
