Data breach at ParkTree Community Health Center exposes sensitive patient information 

ParkTree Community Health Center (PCHC), a healthcare services provider in Pomona, California, has reported a significant data breach that compromised the sensitive information of its patients. The breach, which was disclosed in a filing with the Attorney General of California, affected numerous individuals, exposing personal and medical information. 

ParkTree announced that the breach was first detected on February 7, 2024, when the center experienced a network disruption. An immediate investigation revealed that an unauthorized party had accessed files containing confidential patient information. The compromised data includes patients’ first and last names, dates of birth, health plan identification numbers, medical record numbers, contact information, genders, and medical information. ParkTree completed its review of the impacted files on July 9, 2024, to determine the extent of the breach and the individuals affected. 

In response to the breach, ParkTree notified affected individuals via data breach notification letters on August 21, 2024. These letters provide detailed information on the specific data compromised for each individual. 

The breach highlights the ongoing vulnerabilities that healthcare organizations face in protecting sensitive patient information. Individuals who received notification letters are urged to take immediate steps to protect themselves from potential fraud or identity theft.
