Paul McCormack, Legal Counsel at HSBC, explains why GDPR rules about data privacy remain relevant after Brexit.

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and DCMS, the Government body responsible for GDPR, have said that data privacy rules in the UK after Brexit will resemble the GDPR.

GDPR will be enacted in May 2018, well before the UK will leave the EU, but data protection is of strategic importance to the UK government.
